Maine Fish Market Golf Tournament Helps Soup Kitchen The Maine Fish Market and Restaurant in East Windsor organized their 10th Annual Golf Tournament at Elmcrest Country Club on May 21, 2013. Nick Vamvilis, owners of the Maine Fish Market and Restaurant, presented Enfield Loaves and Fishes (Soup Kitchen ) $6,000.00

Many of our guests face soaring costs for heating oil/fuel and food, with higher premiums for medical/dental care and co-pays for Medications, while compensating for reduced work hours per week. For many of our guests, the meal they eat here at the Soup Kitchen is the only meal they will have that day.

Without the help of the community, many people would go hungry. As Director of the Enfield Loaves and Fishes Program, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Nick and Kathy Vamvilis for organizing such a successful fundraiser to help the homeless and hungry.

I also would like to thank the numerous tournament sponsors and donors who came forward with generous donations to make this event a success. And to the golfers, thanks so much for taking part in this great fund-raiser. Countless disadvantaged people in Northern Connecticut will benefit from your generosity.

With a grateful heart

July 2008

Due to the generosity of the Enfield townspeople , we managed to raise over $400.00 to further our efforts. We also raffled off a food basket and a waffle iron, which generated a lot of interest. Many of our volunteers showed up to support the soup kitchen, and overall it was a huge success. Next year, we may need more lollipops. (We passed them out to all who wanted them as a small token of our appreciation of support.)

Day of Caring

Friday, September 7th, 2007

We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the tremendous amount of work that went into organizing and implementing the United Way's Day of Caring.

When I look back on what was accomplished that day, I am in awe at what a team of caring individuals can do when folks put their hands and hearts together to make a difference.

Mass Mutual Group assembled and brought all the tools needed to make this project go smoothly as well as providing a team of painters needed to accomplish a large undertaking in such a short time.  Our woodwork and cabinets were washed oiled, the bathroom floor was painted, the window sills and radiators were washed and painted, our chairs were washed and waxed to a shine.  Our storage area was organized and the outside crew weeded, weed whacked, raked, and swept.  The canopies on the front and back of our building were painted and our soup kitchen has taken on a new appearance which makes such a difference in this old building.  This "facelift" will mean a lot to our guests during the upcoming holiday season.

We, at Loaves and Fishes, appreciate the time and effort put into making our surroundings look so much better.
