As of today, it’s pretty clear that the coronavirus has disrupted many aspects of our lives. From work to school the headlines grow more ominous. So many people feel powerless over what to do. One way you can make an impact and help your vulnerable neighbors in the Enfield area is to donate to Enfield Loaves and Fishes. Enfield Loaves and Fishes (ELF)  has made it our mission to continue serving meals throughout this crisis to anyone who is in need. We have been working with health professionals and the health department to ensure that we are doing what we can to minimize risk for our guests and volunteers. We are serving packaged meals to go that are nutritious and delicious. But we need your help.

The economic crisis caused by the coronavirus has put many people at risk of starvation. We have seen an increasing number of guests coming to our doors. The line for meals continues to grow. Food banks are running low and we cannot hold our usual fundraisers to help cover the additional costs we are incurring. We are living in uncertain times and need your help more than ever. We are making it our mission to continue serving for as long as we can during this outbreak. We hear every day from grateful recipients that they don’t know what they would do if we closed our doors. We stay open only because of our donors, and volunteers. We know that these are tough times, however, if you are still working we ask that you form a pool at work or ask your employer to match donations. If you are financially secure we ask that you consider giving what you can. Every bit helps. With so many unemployed and waiting for stimulus checks, we need to help our neighbors as much as we can.

Who Your Donation Helps

  • School Children – Area schools closed their doors back in March and many may not reopen until after the holidays. For many of the area’s low-income students, the closures could mean missing the meals they’re typically provided at school.
  • The Elderly and Disabled – These people fall into the high-risk category and many are afraid to venture out. We sometimes deliver to them or they send friends or family members to pick up meals. Without our meals, they would go hungry instead of risking getting infected.
  • Veterans – Many of our Veterans have come to rely on ELF for a daily meal. Their monthly checks are not enough to cover rent, heat, electricity, and other essentials.
  • The Unemployed – These are the new faces coming to our doors for a meal as they fear going to work and exposing themselves and their families to the virus. Also, many do not have any work to return to because of businesses downsizing or closing for good.

In this time of uncertainty, ELF continues to ensure that this pandemic does not deepen the burdens of our neighbors. Please help us help the vulnerable in our community.

Enfield Loaves and Fishes is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) company. Your donations are tax-deductible. Please donate today.
